Who would have thought that college would end this way?
Such an abrupt end to four years.
Last classes, senior week and graduation day
were taken away and replaced with tears.
I packed up my things, said my goodbyes
And made my way back to my hometown.
Life as I knew it had changed before my eyes.
A pandemic had arrived, and with it a shutdown.
I tried to find ways to navigate this haze.
By connecting with friends over Zoom
Attending class in my PJ’s,
from the confines of my bedroom.
However, as the days stretched on,
I became more introspective.
Even though I wouldn’t be able to graduate on JCU’s lawn,
My new reality had given me a change in perspective.
Four memorable Friendsgivings and Christmas Carroll Eves
Trying a new sport and winning an intramural championship ring.
Experiences like these, they helped me to see
That in the end, the last 3.75 years were more than this peculiar ending.
So come together (at a distance)
Find the closure you seek
Celebrate your John Carroll experience
Onward on, Blue Streaks.
